The Girlest Day Out

Posted on

Over Easter Blondie and I decided to have a “girly day out” and enjoy London a little… not something we do very often! Food, shopping, a little exploring and a Limp Bizkit cover band … it… was… AWESOME!

Our day started with a coffee stop at The Attendant.

Built around 1890 and mothballed in the 1960s, the Attendant has been dormant for more than fifty years.

After two-years planning and restoration the old Attendant’s office has been turned into a little kitchen and the original porcelain urinals have become an inspired line with green seating to match the original Victorian floor tiles.

The Attendant is really beautiful! You can see all the care and work Peter Tomlinson took into converting this disused loo into somewhere with very yummy hot cross buns!

All the photos of the public toilet before the transformation can be found on pintrest

After shopping we decided we must have earned a treat and ended up in The Parlour, one of the restaurant in Fortnum & Mason.

The Parlour Restaurant, situated on the First Floor, provides a gastronomic ice cream indulgence to children (and adults) of all ages. Many of our flavours are found nowhere else in the world.

We went crazy and ordered pink bubbles and the sherry trifle. It was the BIGGEST sunday I’ve seen and waaaay more alcoholic than we where expecting!

Safe to say we where very happy bunnies by the end of our day out (and a wee bit squiffy)

As if our day couldn’t get any better Blondie cooked up a Mass of tapas and we hit Voodoo Rock over in Angel for some rock cover bands and Limp Bizkit fun!

Our NYE trip to Edinburgh

Our NYE trip to Edinburgh

The Boy and I decided to have a bit of an adventure for NYE last year and hop of the train to Edinburgh! Neither of us had been before and as we are so close the Kings Cross it was a doddle to get up there… a couple of DVDs and the Walking Dead game on the ipad and we where there!

We had lucked out with an amazing new hotel based in Haymarket so the location couldn’t have been better. We did our usual thing of exploring and finding some amazing bars and restaurants…

The Red Squirrel Bar was our first stop of the trip. It had some amazing guest ales and some very yummy haggis burgers which made The Boy very happy!

We also had an amazing meal at Maison Bleue down a really cute little street. A great mix of french and Scottish food… nom nom nom

On the same street we found a fab art gallery called The Red Door Gallery buried between loads of amazing tweed shops! Loads of local artist and fantastic prints… so tempting to buy the whole shop!!

We also did the touristy thing and explored the castle … It was SO windy and wet but The Boy still managed to take lots of beautiful photos!

But of course the main reason we came to Edinburgh was for the amazing Hogmanay Street Party…

K-Town Dirty Burger

K-Town Dirty Burger

Soho House’s not so secret burger shack came to Kentish Town a few months ago… how could we not go!?

But first we had to find the bloody place…

Lurking round the back of Pizza East in a car park overlooking LA Fitness is a corrugated shack which homes Dirty Burger and it’s very simple but yummy menu!

It did feel like a movie set for a zombie apocalypse film… which maybe why we loved it so much!?

It’s very small and you’re not able to book so prepare yourself for a wait if it’s busy but it’s worth it…

Anywhere you get a pint of Camden Town and a banana milkshake make us all very happy campers
